Nick Watney … The most felicitous meeting of land and sea (according to Robert Louis Stevenson and, well, anyone else who has ever visited the Monterey Peninsula) sets up once again to be an elixir for the 36-year-old who hasn't recorded a top 25 since early summer. Save the 2016 edition of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am when he was sidelined with an injured back, the Sacramento native has been a regular here since 2004. With three top 10s among 10 cuts made, it's easy to understand why. He also finished T14 last year. Kevin Streelman ... He's been a permanent Sleeper throughout 2017-18, but this is his season debut in this space. Currently 44th in the FedExCup standings with four top 20s as cornerstones of his 8-for-8 record. Currently 18th in total driving, fourth in greens hit and fifth in scrambling. In seven appearances at the AT&T since 2010, he's missed only one cut while hanging up three top 20s, including in each of the last two years. Nick Taylor … He may not be soaring on the same trajectory as Waste Management Phoenix Open runner-up Chez Reavie, but the 29-year-old from Canada is in the same lane. The one-time PGA TOUR winner fits a similar profile as a tactician tee to green and adds the layer of a strong par-salvaging touch when necessary. He's also rattled off numerous top 25s for months, the most recent a T20 at the CareerBuilder Challenge. In his third appearance at the AT&T last year, he placed T10, ranked T2 in par-5 scoring and led the field with four eagles. Matt Jones … The only consistency of his last two seasons has been inconsistency, but the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am has been a sanctuary. Appearing for the 11th consecutive year (and second straight on this page), the 37-year-old Aussie has registered two top 10s and another three top 25s, including in each of the last three editions. He's missed only one cut (2012). Quite simply, his terrific short game has shone on the small greens of Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill. Only two months removed from a co-runner-up performance at his national open. Sam Saunders … It's always notable whenever any golfer deep in the Web.com Tour reshuffle category (in which he's positioned 39th) sits out an event on the West Coast Swing as he did at Torrey Pines two weeks ago, but with a T25 at Waialae and a T8 in the Coachella Valley to lead off the restart of the season, he built a foundation to sustain a regular schedule for the remainder. It also bought him a two-week recharge for his eighth appearance on the Monterey Peninsula. He hasn't made a cut here in his last three tries, but his recent burst of form is an extension of sniffing leaderboards since last July. He's recorded a combined seven top 25s in his last 15 starts on the PGA TOUR and Web.com Tour.
